The study verifies the differences between urban morphological patterns according to the texture analysis of satellite picture fragments of Recife, considering the complex combination among its visual elements (water surfaces, vegetation, buildings, pavement, etc.). It presents the concept of lacunarity and introduces sub fragment analysis aiming at capturing subtleties in urban morphology.
For more information see the paper Texturas urbanas e distinções morfológicas which was presented and published at II Simpósio Brasileiro de Ciências Geodésicas e Tecnologias da Geoinformação (SIMGEO), in Recife.
